How My Blog Started:

I’ve actually only been writing on this blog since November. So it’s very new! I’ve always been really interested in starting a blog and I’ve tried (very unsuccessfully) many times before. I’ve started probably three other blogs before this one over the last three years. I always made it through like five posts before I just dropped off and stopped writing and completely forgot about the blog.

I realized what caused my problem and my lack of motivation. I was expecting to be able to just blog about whatever happened in my life and not plan anything in advance. I also never clarified the direction I wanted to take the blog. I never had a focus or any real topic to streamline my posts.

Anyways, cut to November, when I decided that once and for all, I wanted to start a real blog that I would actually stick with, and this blog was created!

My Advice:

  • This advice stems from all my previous failed blog attempts: Make sure you have a set topic or theme that your posts will all fall within. It may seem better to have a broad topic so you can post about anything, but really, it’s much much easier to come up with posts when your ideas have to be within a specific topic. It’s also a better way to get followers, because you’ll attract more niche readers who can relate to your blog more.
  • Keep it consistent. Posting regularly will not only keep you sane, but also help with readership. If you know you’ll be posting on specific days, you can schedule posts in advance and keep your posts consistent. This will prevent you from having one week with five posts and only one the next week. Maybe I’m just a freak for order and organization, but this has really helped me.
